Some ridicule this site and its aims, others ignore and laugh, some rant and become angry, others abuse, fight and argue, some even wish and others try to silence this - why is that?
When it comes to our children perhaps the answer lays with the truth of some matters.
Answers to foolish questions such as the oft cried defence: "Where did he get that": when little Billy or Mary speak or act entirely out of line. The answer that Billy or Mary are unable to voice is quite simply "From you and the environment you raise me in. That is simply how I have learned from my environment. Why do you punish me for that?"
If what you say, what you mean and what you do are not co-ordinated your children will become confused.
How to build a lasting relationship with your children. Speak only the truth to them. If you do not acknowledge your own truth you simply cannot speak truthfully with your children or other you have relationships with.
A child does not come with the ability to undertake sophisticated tasks, they must learn them in order to be able to perform them.
- we learn to lie when we are lied to
- we learn to abuse when we are abused
- we learn to blackmail when we are blackmailed
- we learn to psychologically abuse when we are psychologically abused
- we learn to swear when we are sworn at
- we learn to rape when we are raped
- we learn to blame when we are blamed
- we learn hypocrisy through experiencing hypocrisy
We can only do those things we learn until we understand why we are confused - then we can exercise choice and we can conduct ourselves in a manner which is both loving and caring - few of us choose not to when we understand.
What other dysfunctional ways have you taught me?
Why do you discipline me when I am simply doing as I have learned in the way you have taught me. I am simply treating you as I have been treated - are my actions abnormal in some way?
What other dysfunctional things have you taught me? How do I now guess at what is a suitable way for me to act? My chances of failure are even greater than those of my teachers. Does this mean also that I will be punished even harder for simply doing as I have experienced and learned. We your children find fault with your skewed conclusions and your hypocritical practices. We simply believe that if you wish us to act within society in an appropriate way then all we ask is that you conduct yourself in a similar manner - then we would all get along much better.

How else are you deceiving me?
Is there any wonder I am confused, I have simply learned that from you.
