Gary,

[name] here. I have a story to tell re the Catholic Church as I am
currently dealing with The "Independent" commissioner. Have had
experience with the Victoria Police. Have serious doubts about the death
of an elderly friend who attempt to speak out for me.

There were some points in my reading through the blog and its links that
reminded me of a recent rant of mine - its not very - well its me - its
scattery but the crux of what I am ranting about is in there to see very
plainly.

I will paste it below and if you have some time you may like to read it
and see if you can find some lines to write about in there.

TFYQA - THE PENTULTIMATE TABOO

This comes from being part of something so corrupt and that has never
been identified, or acknowledged by the church, they have and continue
to attempt to take the higher ground as well as put in place systems to
maintain their avoidance and their responsibility. It is even more
tragic that they and other religions, sects organisations or whatever
grouping you put on it "group" put out that they have "the answers" or
an answer you may want is terribly wrong when they use the tool of
"soul" "inner piece, happiness, reward, comfort ......" [a universal
panacea], and it is sold in that most personal and desirable way and
pointed directly at the most emotive part of us and one that also holds
the greatest fear], when there has been a system of deception, and abuse
on the scale that is now been shown. A system does not simply go corrupt
in a small and confined area such as pedophilia. A system becomes as
corrupt as a religion putting itself up as the savior of souls and then
taking advantage of that over so many. That it had had time to foment
and grow to be as emboldened as they have shown themselves to be.

Mighty businesses collapse and fall under that type of circumstance,
such is the power they hold and they obviously have the funding to go
down the legal route on each occasion only to try to settle for the best
financial position (the worst financial for the victims) and to include
attempts at legal gagging of those victims who were in a no choice
situation "is" simply the living evidence of the degree to which the
churches etc will go to maintain their position of power and to continue
to disadvantage those it failed when it failed in its own stated
responsibilities. That is not the sign of a caring, considering,
"thoughtful" group, those are the actions of a corrupt organisation, one
which is attempting the religious equivalent of the current AWB issue.

They have not looked for other aspects of corruption, be they legal or
religious (as in the well-being of their parishioners and their fellow
man) - no they do not, they do a James Hardie and become good corporate
citizens by marketing their line ($100,000 advertising spend by Catholic
church to counter abuse allegations etc), they cap the financial payouts
(standard corporate practice to cover their financial butts and to hell
with whoever gets or was burned), as a sector of society these groups
and religions are unfettered and uncontrolled in any way on their
teachings and their actions. They are virtually totally unregulated. The
actions undertaken show they need to be regulated and to be brought to
account and to rectify the wrongs they did and to follow their own
example and do penance and make it "Just".

Are we not seeing the corrupt head of the (one usually says here "the
mythical" when one means myth-based-religion. The evidence says they
have operated on a myth, they have failed to adequately acknowledge the
true impact of the initial abuse events, let alone the effects they have
on those victims they deal with, there has been no softening, there has
been no statements like "We, the Church and all its well informed
members will do "the right thing", the things the churches have said
they stand fo - and then actually do them. the Government should make
the needed changes to laws to permit the Church as a whole to be made
accountable to a combined class action on behalf of those victims and in
a separate class action from their deceived parishioners", perhaps a
third for mis-representation of a religion; maybe even more, they choose
to act in this matter as a corporate entity, it would simply be a legal
acknowledgement of their actual legal status and subsequently their
legal responsibility and legal accountability in what is supposedly
available to all of us via the legal system which is supposedly set-up
to protect the people from fraudsters, corruption and abuse. At what
point does a corporate entity have that responsibility put on them - it
is usually called an epidemic or the situation would be called endemic
or systemic. 3 employees in a much smaller ratio group would call the
entire organisation into doubt to many. These groups dont have to do
much in that area because they are effectively above the law and will
and do take advantage of their unique unaccountable position and in turn
enacts further abuse of the legal system by its past actions which have
seen it obtaining a legal agreement which effectively allows the Church
to continue to disadvantage and minimise for those they should be doing
otherwise for - a corporate would be held irresponsible - you would be
held responsible, any other group would be held legally responsible -
why are these religion based groups above the law? Surely hey should
only be given that status when they actually provide what they preach.
In the corporate world they would not be permitted to use the type of
promotions they do - they would not pass honesty in advertising
criteria. Because, according to the way the permission is argued it is
never resolved and thus never actioned against.

There is no religion which can provide undoubtable proof that would
stand the testing of a legal court based system. Its a fact that cannot
be done. This is borne out by the many different factions which are all
vying for the customers and the money from Governments and business
(there are a lot of $$$s in the running of a  religion). Each has a
different slant on a similar theme - it is obvious they are not all
correct. No more than one can be correct. With the many different
flavors out there (perhaps 10, perhaps 50 - ?how many) says to me that
all except one is incorrect. Surely that means that of the theoretical
25 we will use; 24 are wrong. It appears amazing that this situation
should be tolerated - where is the work going on to find out which of
these religions is the correct one. Failing that at the least we should
know definitively which of them is doing the job, the one that closest
matches its creed. I think standard business metrics should be able to
go a long way towards to defining that from figures with the religious
bias removed. The range of messages from these sectors is so scattery
that it beggars belief that such inaccuracies should be allowed to
remain. The argument against this would naturally follow the current
well rehearsed and polished spin process of being fashioned from
biblical statements and religious murmurings and howls of protest about
the loss of the good work they do. If they are best as a charity then
separate that from the religion aspects and do that and bring that part
of the business under the legal systems control. Will they stack the
board of these entities? Surely the answer to that would be yes, so it
would require a legislative approach to ensure their operations is run
as a charity with out bias or prejudice for or against any person.

We live in a society which takes great pride and steps in the area of
looking after ourselves medically and rely on the strength of regulation
behind the Hippocratic oath. Psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors all
have a set of rules and ethics to work by and are criminally charged in
cases of pedophilia. When a number of instances of pedophilia are
encountered such as in the recent aboriginal community cases, these are
rapidly called pedophile rings. Departments swing into action, things do
get done. Yet. Yet it never quite steps into the realms of the churches
very far. These are invariably described in Bush's words of "just a few
bad apples". They minimise the situation and have for some ungodly
reason have missed becoming the subject of a Royal Commission.

Gods work is not the destruction of families, the destruction of
individual lives through abuses and the misuse of power. Any self
respecting Church would abhor such things and would surely be able to
clearly state their goals in those areas - I say let them do that -
codify their religion. Those same self respecting religions should be at
the forefront of such a movement to ensure their status is a healthy
one. With the current unhealthy state the religion business is in it is
sure to have a financial cost on the population, yet I dont see any
figures touted in Government budgets and estimates to show these costs -
they are hidden costs to the community and should be measured and should
have actions taken to reduce or minimise the impacts from those "false"
religions and to ensure the proper and correct operation of the religion
which has been shown to be the correct religion. Failing any one
religion being able to do this I feel that until that question is
resolved, no religion should be able to talk, preach or promote any
aspect of their religion using aspects of the hereafter, life after
death, a persons souls, their religious state and more as these
religions are by definition due to their lack of ability to show proof
of what they preach, not the defined correct religion and must therefore
fall into the bucket along with the rest.

Religions should not be permitted to suggest that they have any form of
answer when there is doubt. There has never been a more deaf institution
in our history than this religious one. It has been able to hold down
within it own structures the truth of the extent of the abuses – for
more than 50 years this has been the case – enough to call it a
long-term persistent problem which has been and remains a part of those
religions to this day and will undoubtedly continue to exist and to be
protected from within whilst it is permitted to do so – a corrupt, no a
very corrupt entity only would do that, though we accept this when it
comes to be one of our religions that is involved.

Where are the whistle-blowers from within the church, the men and women
of stature, the pillars of our society – where are their voices and
their actions in this. They more than any others in the community would
have a picture of the current state, yet none are strong enough people
to speak out and identify those who abused.

Surely these "few bad apples' were not all individual, isolated cases?

Through the actions and courses they have taken it should be obvious
that the processes set in place to deal with this are not adequate, they
do not appear to have the ability to learn and to fit appropriately with
the needs of victims. That this system was rapidly setup and has not
moved or evolved to take on board current specialist knowledge in this
area. Those times it has moved and changed have been at the, and only at
the times when it has been shown to be blatantly flawed and to have them
back down on those points, yet they persist in keeping the structure
together even when there is criticism. This aloof stance could only be
held when there is genuinely felt disregard for those who have been
harmed and when there is a truly non-caring attitude towards those who
will be harmed in the future.

The obviousness of the need to regulate and control religions and the
powers they have should be enough for Governments and legal avenues to
open avenues for victims to take action directly against the churches
because of the corruption that permitted the situation to arise and to
permit it to continue. They as the employer of the priests and nuns and
do bear a responsibility and an obligation to ensure that all un-caring
……  acts for and on behalf of religions should be permitted within their
organizations and should not be permitted to be a part of the argument.

The bottom line is that the Churches take advantage of their ability to
act as a Corporation. They use the laws of the land to win advantage
against those they have permitted to be abused.

Permitted?? It can only be permission when the organisation chooses to
not act sufficiently and forcefully enough to eliminate the practices –
anything less can and will only seen as a continuation of the original
cover-up.

Religions are:
·    Unregulated
·    Uncontrolled
·    Have no ability to prove correctness of their theory
·    Above the law of the land
·    An entity with a high level of pedophilia
·    An entity with the ability to evade its corporate responsibility
