The real Catholics

I am writing this because if I speak I fear you will feel my anger on this issue.

I am not here to vent my rage on the real Catholics amongst you.

I am here because of the actions of your bishops and priests and their failure to uphold the catholic ethos through the continued failure of the systems they put in place to manage the issue of sexual abuse.These systems systematically and consistently  permit the use of legal and medical malpractice to sustain their untenable position.

The issue of clergy abuse is managed in the most abhorrent and morally disgusting ways and should be halted immediately.

When a child's trust in their priest is destroyed through being raped it has many long-term undesirable effects on the growth of a child.This cannot be tended to simply by providing costs for counselling on the one hand and ignoring the realities of the victims on the other through the break-up of their relationships, the loss of their homes,the alienation of their children and their loss of their ability to provide for their families.  Some commit suicide as a result, others fall prey to victimisation and turn to drugs and alcohol as a way of dealing with the pain caused through these disgusting processes.

Bishops receive daily pleas and requests to change their ways yet they continue to say no as family after family who has turned to them for assistance is destroyed - an inhumane, unCatholic unAustralian way to act. Victims describe the re-abuse through these systems as more damaging than their original abuse.

There is no excuse for sexual abuse as there is no excuse for clergy abuse and the re-abuse of victims.

There is no excuse for any man catholic or not to stand in the way of providing proper care and assistance to those who have been damaged as children and re-damaged in attempting to bring about their own healing.

By the time someone makes their first contact with the system they have made the first steps in their own recovery and healing, yet they are actively re-abused by the systems you call "Towards Healing" and "The Independent Commission into Sexual Abuse".

What you do about it is up to you. I personally ask that treat these people with care, respect and dignity. I also would like to ask to be excommunicated from the church whilst it acts this way.

 

Tell your priests enough is enough. Demand they act in a humane way.
