John Brown was born in Yea, Victoria in 1948. He currently lives with his family in Toowoomba Queensland.
At the age of 8 years John was violently and repeatedly raped by Kevin O'Donnell, a known paedophile who was moved on by the Catholic Church which permitted the sexual abuse of up to 160 known victims.
John was subjected to sexual exploitation, bullying, bastardisation and much more by other priests and nuns, as well as being harassed and humiliated by members of the clergy for his attempts to speak out.
John lost his best friend through a violent assault on St Patrick's day 1962 against this 72 year old man who subsequently died a few days later in unexplained circumstances.
Other members of his family who were also subjected to clergy abuse.
John has sought since 2003 to be treated justly and fairly by the Catholic Church for the damage caused to him and the effects on his life. He has found the process established by the Catholic, despite its many statements to the contrary to be heavily stacked against victims and that it does fail to treat victims in a just, fair and non-discriminatory way.
John believes that no entity, even a Church should be permitted to be above the law and that Government and Churches have a responsibility to make available the mechanisms to provide justice for himself and the many other victims of clergy abuse.
As a means of bringing to light the negligent actions of the Church and as a first step in providing information for research and investigation John has provided full and open access to all past and future aspects of his case for scientific study and as a means to show the failings of the systems established by the Catholic Church.
