Notes from recording with Sue Sharkey
Michelle can send up the Framework
Sue does a report which with my approval is sent on to the "Compensation Panel".
Psychiatrist - because of medical training - asks medical questions.
3-4 hours questionnaire - supplied by Sue.
How to address the ceiling of the "Compensation Panel". - The process is a major effort.
re the panel ?? "they are not talking about business".
will go direct to Richard ?? Leader ?? or P. O'Callaghan - "I have to put in more than what the panel can cover".
My financial costs are outside the CareLink role.
CareLink, after the panel meet to organise ongoing health needs.
Limited sessions available for family - believe up to 6.
re: paedophiles - they do not want them out on the street ------ should they not let the law deal with them rather than hiding them away?
Sue agrees that keeping control of paedophiles is not common throughout the Church.
Yea - ?? Pedotto ?? current Yea priest is one of the younger ones of her "list" - goes to court next month.
Q from John - ---- How many young ones are on the list? Is the list available?
assistance with information on my research.
O'Donnell age - Sue initially deemed that it was not O'Donnell due to his age - a few moments later she was not able to give an indication of O'Donnell's age --- ??? P. O'Callaghan deemed the information re my identifying O'Donnell as significant, however Sue was not aware of this information which was at that time some weeks old so apparently she was not provided with current information.
Merlin and Phil Stark to write reports.
USA and NZ have released data.
Q ---- What is the "Melbourne Privacy Act" referred to by Sue?
Sue went on to say that information was already there in a generic form - this was re-iterated when they were assuring me that my information would be kept confidential - assumedly the data is in that generic format to ensure that and subsequently it should be easily made available in that generic form.
Sue agreed that the information should be available for research "out there".
Provide Sue with a copy of the report - she will then let us know if anything is missing.
With my consent it is then sent on to the "Compensation panel".
Mentions that it will go direct to Gavin - ? who is Gavin, what is his role - is he a member of the Panel?
Sue can speed up the process if she has the report.
Panel consist of 3 people - only 5 minutes -
Fund Sandy to go with me.
Panel use the spare board room of CareLink. (very cosy)
RECHECK re whoever I want to bring with me - do they pay travel costs or is that up to me once again.
Panel hearing/interview no more than 20 - 30 minutes perhaps1/2 an hour, depending on what I want to say.
Sandy can do/arrange assessment from here in Toowoomba.
They want to know "who the person really is" - -- why would this help them in regards the panel??????
Getting back into work needs to be really clearly shown - then talk about the impact it is still having on me.
Compensation Panel does not pay compensation - it pays as an acknowledgement (and demands) an agreement that I will not take any further legal action against the Church.

Sue agrees that it is not compensation.

Sue agrees that I am not seeing justice.
Sue speaks on how different my case is, Sue is saying the system is not able to deal with people in my situation. - my life history in terms of the abuse, no-one has talked about it in this way.
John Stuart at Sandy's suggestion could write a report from a legal perspective.
To my statement that the Church will hide behind her - Sue agrees.
