On the issue of child abuse

Description:

Article originally prepared on : 27 November 2015

While a discussion on the pros and cons of the issue (making the assumption that all agree on primary cause and effect and the need to act to bring a halt) can be interesting at times due to the variability of opinion able to be derived fro...m religious and other teachings this form of discussion rarely achieves other than agreement or dissension on one or two points of a philosophical aspects which in the main go towards forming an opinion of others in the conversation based on how closely they agree with your interpretation/perception of a fine arguable point coming to us from some indeterminate point in history - the interesting thing I find is that a point of agreement eg the sexual abuse of children can be stated and then the conversation follows down the 'do you agree with me on ...' (some biblical/religious reference/ideal) argument/conversation which can be used to support arguments from both the positive and negative sides is in essence a complete waste of time, is divisive, delaying, obfuscating, diversionary and often inflammatory and serves only to sidetrack from the original point of agreement which was the original motivator to act - the original motivator becomes hijacked and secondary to that motivator - religious opinions if they serve you well personally are likely great things for people on a personal level - for me the issues of sexual abuse of children (in particularly under the aegis of religion) are issues that come under the headings of the crimes, the criminals, the lack of justice, inequality, human rights abuses, the horror forced onto children and subsequently onto society cannot be successfully addressed when the conversation/argument becomes one of 'do you believe as I believe' or this or that religious quote/citation. This is particularly relevant in regards the abuses carried out under the banner of religion/belief - it does nothing but use up words, time and wastes good logic and effort which could be far more effectively put towards the initial problem/issue that prompted this diatribe on all else other than the crimes against humanity that drew us here in the first place - if that were not the case there would be no need for this to be written or to be read as the purpose, aim and goals were well defined before the sidetracking and issues of personal beliefs/religion came back into the conversation about the employment of personal beliefs/religious beliefs/ideals to obtain access, power, exploitation and control of those who have been and can be influenced, exploited and abused by the very same thing - effectively a time waster and a diversion from the original goal or aim and only serves to add data to a database somewhere to further waste the time and motivation of what was essentially a right/correct and proper initial motivation.
