Delaware Diocese Names Names

A Cross Plains family claimed a minor victory Friday in their effort to reform the Catholic Church.  Justa few weeks ago the O'Connell's filed a lawsuit which named everybishop in the . In part, the lawsuit seeks the release of the names of  5,000 priests accused of sexual misconduct with children.

Wednesday, the O'Connell family learned the Diocese of Wilmington, Delaware released the names of 20 priests.  The Diocese of Wilmington did not say they were prompted by the O'Connell's lawsuit.  But Tom O'Connell says he finds the timing, interesting.

"Ifind it ironic that you know that they've hid some of these names for20, 30, 40 years, and a couple of weeks after we serve the lawsuit, the20 names come out.  But regardless, it doesn'tmake one difference why-we think it's the right thing to do, and we'rehoping that other bishops around the country look at that, and do thesame thing," he says.

The O'Connell family filed thelawsuit after tom's brother and an intern were murdered by a Catholicpriest in Hudson when they confronted him with allegations of abuse.  In the five years since the murder, the O'Connell's say they've been largely ignored by Catholic clergy.
