I have been a RomanCatholic for over 60 years and, up until recently, had always beenproud to have been born into such an ancient and honorable faith.
But,when it comes to the cergy abuse scandal, unlike most of my fellowCatholics whose heads have been buried in the sand, I have studied thefactual data.
I have spoken with victims.
Thatis why this news story ("Priest ousted over relationship," Jan. 9) of"allegations" of the "possible" sexual violation of a teenage girl inthe 1950s by Father Robert Olivier of Gluckstadt does not surprise me.
Everyday, reports come in of more victims, heretofore unsuspectedperpetrators and the enablers of the church hierarchy who protectedtheir child-molesting clergy.
The RomanCatholic Church is supposed to represent the "Living Body of Christ."But sexual depravity, cruelty, greed, conspiracy, depraved indifferenceand moral vagrancy are hardly glowing recommendations for a religion. The "Living Body of Christ" is bleeding to death - and Jesus weeps.
