Orlando -- Standing in front of Orlando's Catholic headquartersTuesday, leaders of a nationwide support group for survivors of clergysex abuse held a news conference to slam the church's handling of aDeltona priest accused of sex abuse.

"We're here to beg Bishop [Thomas] Wenski to use his Web site, hispulpit and his presence to urge parishioners with information tocontact police," said David Clohessy, director of Survivors Network ofthose Abused by Priests.

The Rev. Carlos Bedoya was removed as pastor of St. Clare CatholicChurch in November, with no reason given to baffled parishioners. Itwas later revealed by the Orlando Sentinel that Bedoya is beinginvestigated on allegations he helped another man perform a sex act ona 35-year-old man. That investigation is ongoing. Members of SNAP planto pass out fliers at area churches in the coming weeks demanding more"transparency" from the diocese, and urging anyone with information onthe case to come forward. After the news conference, the bishopreleased a statement saying the diocese is awaiting the conclusion ofthe investigation before taking any further action.

KristenReed, Nancy Imperiale, Susan Jacobson and Denise-Marie Balona andLudmilla Lelis of the Sentinel staff contributed to this report.
