Nicholas Baltinos - NetFM
Description:
Article originally prepared on : 05 June 2007
On behalf of all clergy abuse victims in Australia I would ask Mr. Baltinos to apologise for his vicious and defamatory statements in regards compensation payments to clergy abuse victims, not only has this defamed and damaged the reputation, character and the good name of many victims of clergy abuse by his slanderous statements he went on to cause humiliation, embarrassment and shame to many by by making these malicious and false statements which in themselves can only be seen as a harshly abusive censure against victims. His invective can only be seen by those affected as being rudely contemptuous and insolent and does only bring shame and disgrace on those unfortunate enough to have been subjected to the buggery he speaks of.
For example the most recent high profile case of clergy abuse in Australia where the Independent commission into sexual abuse supported the victims claims of satanic ritual abuse - JamesT - http://blogs.news.com.au/news/crime/index.php/news/comments/ritual_abuse_victim_responds/ - the payout to JamesT was $30,000 (after legal expenses the in-pocket to this man would most likely be under $20,000).
I believe Mr. Baltinos that you have slandered, vilified and falsely portrayed not only JamesT but every other victim of clergy abuse not only in this country but in more than 50 countries around the world where it has been the practice of around 10% of Catholic priests to rape and buggerise small defenceless children - approximately 70% of them young boys.
That the Independent commission into sexual abuse has dealt with more than 200 cases of clergy abuse in Melbourne alone and that not a single one of them has received a payment in excess of $55,000 - statements such as yours do cause emotional damage and harm to those seeking justice through the public utterance of such blatantly false and inaccurate information.
These statements give the false impression that the Catholic Church pays millions of dollars to individual victims of clergy abuse - this is simply not borne out in fact and I challenge Mr. Baltinos to publicly show where a single victim of clergy abuse in this country has been awarded payouts in the millions of dollars. I for one believe that you have attempted to gain exposure and subsequently to profit from the plight of victims and because of this I believe that you should publicly apologise for the harm your have done to those who are and have attempted to obtain healing and compensation from the Catholic Church and that you should apologise to each individual, to their friends and families for the blatant misrepresentation of their situation and for the psychological harm caused to them.
