WINCHESTER-KathleenDwyer, a survivor of incest and priest ritual, sexual and spiritualabuse as a child, will speak to Winchester Area Voice of the Faithful'sweekly meeting on Monday, Dec. 4. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. at St.Eulalia's Parish, 50 Ridge St., Winchester. Admission is free, and allare welcome.
Dwyeris co-director of the Truth and Recognition Coalition and is a memberof several of several other survivors of sexual abuse support groups.Ms. Dwyer is also an artist, poet and writer, and is a contributingauthor in the forthcoming book, "Predatory Priests The Sexual-AbuseCrisis and the Catholic Church."
The Truth and RecognitionCoalition is a nonprofit organization that was formed to create aprocess for truth telling and to create a permanent verbal and visualhistorical record of the widespread crimes of sexual abuse by clergy.This will be the first formal introduction to The Truth and RecognitionCoalition project. A videotape of Dwyer giving her testimony about herabuse will be shown as an example of the work that the coalition is inthe process of recording. Ms. Dwyer will then speak about the TRCProject and she and other members of the coalition will be available toanswer questions.
WinchesterVOTF is a Catholic organization that has been meeting weekly on Mondayevenings (holidays excluded) since May 13, 2002. Its goals are tosupport survivors of clergy abuse, to support priests of integrity, andto support structural change within the Catholic Church. Members ofWinchester Area come from Winchester, Woburn and surrounding towns.
