Church got it wrong: bishop
MICHAEL MCKENNA THE AUSTRALIAN FEBRUARY 13, 2014 12:00AM
THE former head of the Catholic body handling child abuse allegations has conceded church officials had no right to launch investigations into complaints against clergy before going to police. Bishop William Morris, the former co-chairman of the National Committee for Professional Standards, said the church's decades-long practice under its ``Towards Healing'' protocols to test allegations internally had often hurt the victims and damaged the prospects of a thorough investigation.

(The above article is deemed to be fair and balanced through showing both sides of the story. My side of the story reads like this and I know the Australian will not print my side of the story. Do you think they will print your side of the story?)
Local ex bishop makes claim that the church got it wrong - the "faithful" are now confused as a bishop says a process is wrong but another bishop may disagree - meanwhile nothing changes at the Vatican, nothing changes in the rules.
George Pell sells the locals his line on god, hell and whatever else is controversial and causing them local issues speaks out as though he is in concert with the feelings of the local people - he appeases them. -- Remind everyone of the good work done before in the past and that the church is a poor church and in great need of the people money. Vary and repeat as necessary. When challenged there is no need to make any changes to the dogma or laws as the locals are quite happily going along with the bishops line of spin - a line of spin which under a turnaround of circumstances will reverse the notions put forward today. This is Catholic culture. This is not restricted to the Vatican; Catholic children are taught to accept from instructions given this way. They have no choice in that matter as nod nod there is always some form of hell in the background that can be revived at the moment the need is seen to arise.
Broken down the tales and the myths are messages carrying the underlying message. There is no need for a bishop to whip up a storm of fury in such an environment - he can achieve that outcome through simply laying claim to being the victim and if urgency is required he simply adds the thought that he may feel personally persecuted.
Catholic children are taught to accept without question what they are told by their clergy. This is the most basic of requirements of a Catholic education. When the cause is deemed to be for some icon of the church then Catholics do not need to be educated that they are in a war - that was done to them in their childhood and reinforced with the threat of hell to keep the bond of control and ownership firmly in the hands of the clergy class.
The psychology of it is essentially the same for clergy in all areas of exploitation. Rising up in the ranks of Catholicism is achieved through a measure of your ability to deceive, delude or defraud and to keep giving money just as they have done for generations at the behest of their clergy.
What is wrong with a Catholic education? None of the above according to those still in the spell of entrapment and psychological blackmail and all of the above and more by those who have broken free of those bonds and shed every remnant of this toxic form of exploitation and manipulation of vulnerable people and innocent children who have the misfortune to be born into such an abhorrent and disgusting system. Thankfully the UN is attempting to stand up to almost 2000 years of this intergenerational form of psychological torture.
For those of us who have stepped outside and beyond live free of the entrapment and the fraudulent and unfounded claims. That psychological battle for some segments of Catholicism is brought to bear against survivors and their opportunity to tell their story so that the community can gain from their understanding of the religion that was used to abuse them.
Survivors are still quietly condemned on a number of grounds by many clergy. The claims are various with one such them being that the refusal of the survivor to forgive their abuser is the direct cause of keeping their abuser from reaching heaven as the survivor is now the last individual remaining who has not forgiven the abuser (an essential for reaching heaven). There are many variations on this theme and many other more convoluted themes available as they spread and mix and match right across the globe in an endless cycle of psychological warfare carried out with a smile and in the survivors bets interest. There is no better interest than to have the survivor forgive their abuser - that is a basic tenet of Catholicism - no matter how many bishops offer up how many versions over time the tenet remains and only recedes on a local level as pressure is brought to bear.
The one thing the clergy class cannot abide is losing their access to children. Wait for the public pleadings, the political and community maneuvering, legal bullying and legal abuse, deal making and deal breaking when that conversation comes as it must as a result of the evidence.
The pattern is being set, the theme is well established. We did it, we only did it a little bit and besides most of the ones we tell about are dead; it was mostly a few bad apples who will be publicly offered up as proof. We are sorry about that but we have it right this time though we are still working on the details of that at this time. We assume you accept that we know better now and yes some in the past may have known but accounting practices and dissemination of information is such a task today but we are working on it as we speak. Knowing that you accept our apology we now want to continue on with the same religious tenets which we will apply more vigorously than before. We will turn our entire system into a more advanced than the confessional reporting system; in the meantime we are learning how to keep records and will vigorously argue against the realty that science is bringing us about what it is to be human in that process. That this may delay somewhat the healing of the survivors and the releasing of the victims as well as the healing of the nation for a while. Galileo may be a good example of that. Meanwhile we all have to die and the church will be there with open arms to tend to your worldly goods while you take your journey on into the next life. You will be rewarded in this life and in the next life for staying with the program and if you are a good Catholic you will support the bishops in their endeavor to procure an increased amount of public money so that we all can continue in the tradition of the Church of educating our children and forcing our system onto the entire population of the country as we do with abortion, contraception, homosexuality.
The bishop sheds a tear or reminds us of the pain he has suffered throughout the ordeal - none of this would have happened if the survivors had not spoken out but now that you mention it it does seem that there were a few small mistakes made that need our forgiveness. Building on our forgiveness them will become a mainstay of our healing program which will require a long and new fancy title to take the place of the current toxic ones however we will give jobs to the many who ran those terrible places.
Many Catholics complain that their "hands are tied" when in fact the bonds of Catholicism are nothing of the sort; the bonds of Catholicism is of the worst possible kind as it infiltrates every aspect of the mind of the Catholic victim who has no ready escape from the terror that has been thrust upon them by their clergy.
