What time is it?

It seems to me that the question that arises today in many areas related to the horrible crimes against children that is now finally being addressed by the Royal Commission is akin or related to the discussion prompted by Dawkins recently. What I see is that emotions are most definitely a part of this issue, however emotions are not facts.
The only facts we have are those that come from science and research - like them or not they simply remain the facts.
Facts about us are firstly determined by biology - this is contrary to the way most of us were brought up. If your argument does not take into account the known facts to be found in biology then your argument has already failed.
If your argument is one on what it is to be a human being then that too must conform with the facts.
Yes our emotions are very strong and they do go to anger, outrage, revenge and the ultimate crime of taking the life of another human being based purely on emotion - get this wrong and you simply perpetuate the very thing you are trying to stamp out.
Little of our upbringing prepared us for that fact - most of us were brought up on a drip feed of superstition, mythology and belief without evidence or wishful thinking therefore the only suitable and humane way of approaching the many issues that has left us with is to follow the facts and reality as closely as possible.
Today there simply is no excuse to leave out a self paced course on biology, how the human brain works, why we are pattern matching experts and much much more. All of this is available freely online.
The most ugly thing that religion has done over time is to have allowed us to be raised in a toxic fantasy based system; fortunately the real understanding of what it is to be human has been kept from us for centuries.
The information to put the whole thing to rest can and will only come as we learn about ourselves and why we are the way we are based on the facts and not on the whims and fantasies of men who roll dice and fleece you at every opportunity and who permit their insane advocates to freely rape your children and expect you to continue to believe in any of the fantastic claims that are made about it - all of that without any evidence.
Whether we are going to get through this in some appropriate way will be centered on how many people take up the challenge of learning what-they really are.
