Condemnation of paedophile priests

Petty paedophiles was the comment made by Cardinal Angelo Sodana, Dean of the College of Cardinals, to appease the Pope's psychology in the wake of widespread scandals by officials of the Catholic Church. The Vatican, so precise on protocol, broke its own diplomatic cohesion to avoid further embarrassment in the wake of an ever-exposed international scandal.

The Pope, unbecoming of a leader, shied away from facing and expressing himself on the matter.

The leading cardinal in the Pope's entourage, on Easter Sunday, not only attempted to play down the hideous criminality of these paedophile priests but, rather than condemning them, insulted the victims and scandalised Catholics by referring to these abhorrent abuses as "petty gossip". Shame on this cardinal, who should immediately resign from being a prince of the Catholic Church and be publicly condemned by Benedict XVI, who will never recover from this fatal nail in the Catholic Church`s coffin.
