Peter O'Callaghan deters survivor from seeking justice

Description:

I can understand demoralizing Angie's story. It does not look like much has changed in 14 years. I am survivor of violent abuse at the hands of a priest when in was 11 years old. 14 years ago, in 1996 I went to an appointment with O'Callaghan to seek justice. He did not refer me to any one who may have been able to deal with my matter given that it was not his concern as the abuse had occurred in an Order of the church. He told me everything possible to discourage me from seeking justice from the church. This advice and the lack of referral indicates that the so called "Melbourne Approach" was more concerned about protecting the church than helping with the needs of a survivor who approached them with an account of violent pedophilia. Survivors need each others support so that the truth can be discovered and disclosed to an unwary gullible catholic laity. Mark
