I love the ideas of equality and harmony, of democracy and justice - they sound like terrific ideas.
Description:
Hi I was just penning this when I came back across your article on the "apology".
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8041421.stm
They have so many ways of saying "Its not us. The Government did it"
"However, is it not also the case that often it is the ideological manipulation of religion, sometimes for political ends, that is the real catalyst for tension and division, and at times even violence in society?"
"respect for religion"
Does this include the genocide in Canada - the deaths of 50,000 children or Alaska?
This part seems almost right
"Certainly, the contradiction of tensions and divisions between the followers of different religious traditions, sadly, cannot be denied."
and this
"Some assert that religion is necessarily a cause of division in our world and so they argue that the lesser attention given to religion in the public sphere the better," he said."
How do you say look at all the good work we do - it was not us - it was someone else (I think mostly government)
"he argued that religion was a force for good, but its "manipulation" caused divisions and even violence. "
So how do you apologise for the deaths of 50,000 children - wait until there is a swine flu scare across the globe and in the midst of that you say this is cause for "deep regret" or you could say I'm dam n sure I know how, but anyway you lot are getting scre wed over once again."

and then I thought of my friend Ken and I thought we should get together to see what we can do about this.
http://www.youtube.com/user/molestedcatholic and then there is the covering up at government level - thats a Minister for Police, a Police Commissioner and a couple of 'faithful' subordinates

add to that a Prime Minister
The Prime Minister of Australia on Islamic teachings on wife beating and rap e.
"Under no circumstances is se xual violence permissible or acceptable in Australia - under no circumstances."
"Australia will not tolerate these sort of remarks. They don't belong in modern Australia, and he should stand up, repudiate them and apologise."
The Prime Minister of Australia on Catholocism and children sexual ly abused and rape d by Catholic clergy.
"This is a matter for the church and I respect the internal judgements of the church. I don’t stand outside the church and provide them with public lectures in terms of how they should behave..."

There is no excuse for sexu al abuse according to our law and government.
We are told we are all equal before the law.
The exceptions are found when you have been sexual ly abused by Catholic clergy.
"This is a matter for the church and I respect the internal judgements of the church. I don’t stand outside the church and provide them with public lectures in terms of how they should behave..."
Kevin Rudd, Prime Minister of Australia, 17 July 2008.

then you add every State Premier with

because the Governor General will not intervene due to "protocol".
You would think some of that might interest some newspapers or blogs here - nah - thats old hat - our Police Commissioner here in Queensland had it all tidied up about 10 years ago - there was a bit of a spike and they have since let kids give evidence it seems - getting screw d over in Canada has been a breeze in comparison to here - we at least had a public row about what you could say on a t-shirt - I love the ideas of equality and harmony, of democracy and justice - they sound like terrific ideas.
