Stop the hurt

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The Stop the Hurt event was about preventing child abuse.

Community churches, Mental Health professionals law enforcement, and child care providers were on hand to hear tips and to learn how to recognize signs of abuse. Coordinators of the event say knowledge is the key in preventing any type of abuse.

"We're hoping that the clergy the day care workers people who are in attendance tonight will take this information back to their local churches in their community. We want everyone to share this information with the people in their church so that we can stop and protect out children and so that we can have healthier communities," Shelia Nabors, with the Family Resource Center said.

The event on Monday is a precursor to the stop the hurt conference. The Stop the Hurt conference starts Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the Summit in Tupelo.
