The Secretariat,It was with some disappointment that I observed Bravehearts in your National help and counseling services page. I believe Bravehearts are not an appropriate organisation for survivors of historic childhood sexual abuse by Catholic clergy due to a number of issues including the close association of a leading member of Bravehearts with the Catholic Church, the funding association between the Catholic Church and Bravehearts, the close working relationship with the Catholic Church via White Balloon Day and the open advocacy that the ways of the Catholic Church must not be questioned.To this date I am not aware of any research by Bravehearts in the area of childhood sexual abuse by clergy, as well my recent interaction with Bravehearts re a missing petition with 30,000 signatures calling for a Royal Commission is sufficient on its own to warrant removal from this preferred list.Due to the following response re seeking information about this petition I believe that Bravehearts are not of a suitable standard to deal with or to interact with survivors of childhood sexual abuse by Catholic clergy and that firthet more those survivors should be protected from this form of treatment. . data/conversations/hetty-johnston-blackmailing-attempt.mp3 I believe that the link and reference on the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse be removed until this matter is cleared up as my experience of them has been only to receive abuse which I found to be a devastating experience as a survivor and feel compelled to advise the Royal Commission to ensure the safety and well-being of others who may fare far worse than I if they were to experience a similar demand for personal respect in such a manner as a prerequisite to any form of discussion. Defaming people is not an appropriate course of action from an organisation being offered to unsuspecting survivors in need of "counselling for survivors and child protection advocacy" as on the Royal Commission web page.The name calling and associated branding is simply not suitable in anyway for those of us who are survivors of abuse.I look forward to your rapid response to this matter as I also look forward to an appropriate response to the many of us who are concerned about the suitability of Bob Atkinson and Robert Fitzgerald as Commissioners.
