People need to be aware that at some point recently, the database structure was changed at the Royal Commission. As a result of that, the details of many people who have contacted them have been LOST. If you havent heard from them recently, you may wish to contact them again

  • John Brown Is there any official post re this?
  • Steven Smith Not sure but have heard it a from a very reliable source John Brown. Also heard from a lot that have never heard back. It would explain it
  • John Brown Steven Smith What is a reliable source when it comes to this type of information - would need to see something re the credentials of the reliable source to ensure that it is not simply someone speculating as to how data could possibly become lost. There is a long way between people not hearing back at this point and a database change losing data. Assuming a db change was implemented that truncated portions of the data or even lost whole segments of data however there are backups that are taken to protect against something like that - the notion is not plausible and is likely to only cause grief and anguish for many unles some form of validation for the claim is provided.
  • Steven Smith The reliable source was an investigator who had received subpoenas to supply information and when he called to enquire as to some details of his obligation was informed that his details had been lost as had others. I also personally had the same experience when I spoke to the Commission a few weeks ago. I was only posting as a courtesy. I understand the grief and anguish involved in this process. I live it every single day. If its a problem I will simply delete the post and let nature take it owns course

  • Allan Richardson There is no way that data could be lost, and irrecoverable! That sort of excuse died in about the 70s.
In this instance, if it is a choice between a stuff-up and a conspiracy, it's a conspiracy!
  • Steven Smith Only reporting what I was told. Simply call them and see if they still have your details. If they have no big deal, if they havent, it saves wondering and then being left out

Viral Facebook rumours are one of the most commonly experienced phenomena on the... social networking site. Spread from user to user, different rumours seem to pop up every day. But whilst many rumours appear to be harmless, and many Facebook users post them "just in case", what you may not realise is"¦See more
  • Steven Smith John, the information I provided is based on actual conversations with operators from the Royal Commission. One with a good friend who is an investigator of sexual abuse claims and the other conversation was with me. Its up to people to respond however they see fit. If I say nothing and people are excluded because of the problem I would be deemed irresponsible. All people have to do is simply call the Commission and verify details if they wish. If they dont want to...then dont! There is no conspiracy here, just passing on information
  • John Brown My concern is that there has been no public statement re something as important as this from the commission to support the statements and claims of the people you mention.

The following was posted recently online "People need to be aware that at some point recently, the database structure was changed at the Royal Commission. As a result of that, the details of many people who have contacted them have been LOST. If you havent heard from them recently, you may wish to contact them again"

When asked for source or verification I received the following:

"The reliable source was an investigator who had received subpoenas to supply information and when he called to enquire as to some details of his obligation was informed that his details had been lost as had others. I also personally had the same experience when I spoke to the Commission a few weeks ago."

Can the Royal Commission verify if this is factual and that there is a need for people to contact you again. If this is the case would the Royal Commission please issue a press release so that we all may be accurately informed.
