Circumstances result in a situation whereby the only recourse available is via a system which is at fault. The plea is effectively one of going to power and authority and saying that the use of their power and authority and that the core of that authority is a fiction.
The people you are talking to are the current layer built on layer after layer of past legal fraud and religious deception of people by politics, religion and those in positions of power and authority. Many have built and based their lives on these systems, their reputation and social status is a direct result of the very deception at play.
The system is not impenetrable though it is in many instances impermeable.
Presenting reality to someone who has staked their life and their reputation on the basis that all things of order and sanity in life are derived from those things they have opted for in their pursuit of wanting to leave the world a better place for their generations.
When you present this it simply is too great for the vast majority consider as the very act of considering has to acknowledge their own failure. When faced with this sort of dilemma they will go with the only things they know and those things they have available to them to use to re-enforce their original position.
God, king, country, the legal and political systems are all instantly challenged in the mind of the petitioned - the result is almost inevitable in that you will be deemed a heretic of some form, your mental abilities will be challenged (about on a par with the mental challenge they felt at the point of presentation where they had to ask themselves would they give this a fair and balanced review).
The challenge is that it attacks them on a psychological level that they are unaccustomed to using. They are required to view using critical thinking when their training has been to suppress that as critical thinking makes them unsuitable for advancement in the structures of the system. Effectively you are tangling with a many headed Medusa.
Of course the Medusa is only a myth and the trick is to lop the head off of the highest power and authority they have relied on to built the deception. That pathway is also fraught with risk as every new player wishes to bring along their own gods, angels, spirits, myths and legends and the tasks gets bogged and loses momentum over whose gods, angels, spirits, myths and legends should replace those being torn down.
Before any cohesive force can be developed we have to lop the heads off our own gods, angels, spirits, myths and legends so that we are all working from the same level. The most reliable level playing field we have available today comes from the world of science with its reliance on peer review, evidence and facts built on verifiable evidence, logic and reason.
Children for them become tools and weapons to be used at their discretion, human rights becomes a thing applicable only to them and from their perspective. They make the rules and they apply the rules to suit their own circumstance.
The difficult question still remains as to how do you convey to someone that their gods, angels, spirits, myths and legends are the very problem at the core of these centuries long problems. Thankfully that discussion is being had on the Internet and is reaching a wider audience within the community.
The system will not readily give up its hold - may every one of the countless gods, angels, spirits, myths, legends atheists and those who have broken free of the bonds of centuries so that they may be free to safeguard their own children from exploitation and abuse speed this process onwards.
