New Directions in Child Abuse and Neglect Research
The report, produced at the request of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, found that while rates of physical and sexual child abuse have declined in the past 20 years, rates of emotional and psychological abuse, the kind that can produce the most serious long-lasting Âeffects, have increased. Rates of neglect have held fairly steady. Researchers said they do not know why.
[My contention is that the Royal Commission will never know why until they investigate the psychological harm of threatening the life of a child with eternal burning, pain and punishment as well as having an ever present in their mind presence spying on their every thought and action. The lifelong damage caused may be evidenced in the mindset of those who stood and watched helplessly (in shock, horror or psychologically trapped into denial/repression/cover-up) while clergy abused them and their children. The use of religion in this way is nothing other than psychological grooming with the aim of perpetual exploitation of a subject in a perpetual state of fear that psychologically forced them into compliance.
As a tool this becomes available for use simply by reference or implication (reminders, icons etc become reminders of not to process the facts of what is going on around them. The fear of failing to reach the Nirvana offered as a lure serves to keep the focus of the afflicted onto their own self preservation.). The patterns for this are laid down in the earliest possible time in the child's life. This pattern is laid down as a life preserving, life saving imperative when in fact when done this way it becomes a tool of psychological entrapment and enslavement. The presence of the Bible in the environment serves this purpose also.
A modern psychological evaluation of numerous passages in the Bible finds them to be toxic, devoid of morality, lacking in empathy, abusive in nature and psychologically damaging and harmful to the development of a child resulting in a life long state of mental health issues. It is from the most damaged set of individuals that go to make a hierarchy such as that found in the Catholic Church.
Once established in a family line the generational nature of abuse ensures the entrapment is passed on to the next generation of mentally and morally paralyzed followers.
The effects of these religious messages and methodologies are important as exposure to methods of spying, manipulation, stereotyping, psychological blackmail in religious settings does produce significant adverse changes in behaviors and attitudes of young people that last a life time.
The roots of child abuse be it sexual abuse or psychological abuse in the Catholic setting are embedded in the core teachings of the Church. The Catholic Church hierarchy is an example of a fully matured human psychosis that has festered and grown to entrap millions in countries right across the planet.
