NSW Police fill Survivors with Joy
Description: Police describes dysfunctional, ignorant uneducated methodology when dealing with sex abuse survivors
Check Royal Commission transcript for NSW policing "excuse" for not seeking witnesses and others suspected of child sexual abuse.
Runs the same line of uneducated spin of the Catholic and other Churches - it was done for the good of the victims.
Apparently because some people may be triggered if directly approached about their abuse. It seems the NSW police never thought beyond the bishops line of logic despite having the best education and training available to them. In the meantime survivors and victims across the country scratch their heads at the naivety of the NSW police and wonder how constipated and archaic the thinking is when the cream of sex crime investigators does not know how to engage a survivor in conversation.
Evidently police ignorance has been a major cause of the failure to address sex crimes in the country because police have not wanted to talk about it or to talk with survivors.
Now doesn't that fill you with confidence about the competence of the NSW system. When the matter concerns the sexual safety of children being addressed by the Royal Commission it seems a forgone conclusion that the NSW police force is not a child safe or friendly institution.
My experience in Queensland strongly supports the statements of this NSW police officer (Check transcript available to morrow on RC site - end of first session of the day) as no amount of enticement or confrontation here in Toowoomba was able to elicit a sustained conversation whereby there was some police officer who wanted to express his outrage towards those reporting such crimes.
Apparently NSW police had no genuine skills in this area and it is to be a point of wonder if they have updated their thinking yet?
