VIENNA (AP) - An Austrian diocese says it will share data on about 30 suspected abuse cases with prosecutors in the coming days.

The Linz diocese says the alleged cases in question are largely related to violence and abuse by priests and members of religious orders. Most appear to fall under the statute of limitations.

The announcement Tuesday comes a day after the Vatican for the first time made it clear that bishops and other high-ranking clergy should report clerical sex abuse to police.

It also coincides with a meeting hosted by Austria's justice minister and a state secretary to discuss abuse prevention in the wake of recent allegations against the country's Catholic church.
