Charities that are not so Charitable

Description: Have you ever wondered where your money goes every time you give to a charitable cause that promotes of course, charity? Not withstanding the good that many of them do, it is becoming clear that more others believe that your charity was only meant for them. Everyone needs to pay their bills and a fair salary out of pocket expenses. It is when that fair and balanced approach becomes less so then we have something that is morally reprehensible protected by immoral laws. Let us take the Brothers Of Charity (yes, those same infamous Christian Brothers) as a more recent example.

Everyone needs to pay their bills and a fair salary out of pocket expenses. It is when that fair and balanced approach becomes less so then we have something that is morally reprehensible protected by immoral laws. Let us take the Brothers Of Charity (yes, those same infamous Christian Brothers) as a more recent example.

After threatening to close their respite centre for disabled children citing lack of Government funding, this did not include the salaries of their six regional directors that totalled well over �500,000 to over �750,000 between them in just one year. This does not include their very generous expense account. Their chief executive, Winifred O Hanrahan, earns a salary of over �113,000 per annum doing their charitable work which works out at almost �2,200 each week plus expenses. She has serious contenders for even higher salaries.

Paul Ledwidge of the charity, St, Michaels House earns almost �3,500 each week plus expenses

Angea Kerins of the charity Rehab is believed to top Ledwidge�s salary but refuses to disclose details; despite receiving �54,400,000 of taxpayers� money. This money alone only accounts for 27% of Rehabs total annual income.

St John of God charity has Andy Herffernan running their services and their �spokesperson� refuses to disclose his salary.

Enable Ireland chief, Fionnuala O Donovan, earns slightly under �3000 each week plus expenses.

There are over 600 charities in the disability sector alone with incredible salaries and pensions provided by the Government for those in management. Because of it they provide an added threat to front line services along with an equally immoral Government. There is more.

Lower down the scale, Barnardo�s chief earns almost �2500 per week plus expenses.

Concern rakes in over �132,000,000 annually and pays its boss, Tom Arnold, over �2000 per week plus expenses

Goal rakes in over �65,000,000 annually and pays their CEO, John O Shea, almost �2000 per week plus expenses.

Trocaire, even though it pulls in over �60,000,000 and spends �1,700.000 on what it calls �other costs� outside of administration, pays its top earner only �1500 per week plus expenses.

One charity that is trying hard for first place in the salaries department is American Ireland, who is paying its CEO executive over �20,000, per week. This is not a misprint.

Almost all of the above have and is still getting taxpayers money. There is an alphabet soup of others behind them and their pedigree is a lot less so in the morals department. Here is just a few names of a very small percentage:

There is Right Of Place, Aishlinn Centre, Soca and many others. Their claim to fame is that they represent Survivors Of Institutional Abuse. They too are being funded by taxpayers money and have more questions to answer than answers to questions. I name these few because of a personal interest because they have never done anything for survivors of institutional abuse. They have instead aligned themselves with the same immoral Government to ensure that they keep getting funding and victims do not. It also ensures also that victims will never have representation or reflective justice.

The question that begs the greatest answer is: What are you or anyone doing about it?
